Stamps' move into 1st place after home win over Dauphin

The Swan Valley Stampeders (5-1-0-0) pulled into sole possession of 1st place in the MJHL standings on Wednesday night after a 5-3 win over the visiting Dauphin Kings (3-3-0-0) at the Centennial Arena in Swan River.

Josh Maucieri (2G), Noah Basarab (1G 1A), and Dane Hirst (2A) led the way offensively with 2 points each while Kasyn Kruse and MJHL leading scorer Quintin Sudom also chipped in with a goal each.

Sammy Mouland, Riley Shamray and Carter Sawchuk replied for the Kings.

Delano, Minnesota product Jackson Hjelle made 22 saves on 25 saves to earn his 1st MJHL victory while Kings' net minder Brennan Kitchen stopped 35 shots in the loss.

The Stamps now head out on the road for a weekend road trip starting on Friday night when they visit the Winkler Flyers before taking on the Steinbach Pistons on Saturday. The Kings will return home for a couple games this weekend against the Selkirk Steelers.

Nipawin doubled up Battlefords 2-1 in the shootout

Notre Dame defeated Estevan 5-2

In the Prairie Junior Hockey League,

Colby Jacob scored the winner on the power play mid way through the 3rd to lead the Fort Knox to their 2nd straight win, a 3-2 decision over the Regina Silver Foxes.

Brennan Watson and Brandon Pelletier also scored for the Knox while Jacob Taylor made 38 saves to earn the victory.

The Knox return to the ice on Saturday night at 8PM when they host the West Central Rage from the Fort Rexentre.
