Mann's big night leads Stamps to victory over Blizzard; Mils & Wolverines both lose on home ice in Tuesday Recap

The Swan Valley Stampeders used a big 5 goal first period en route to a 5-3 win over the visiting OCN Blizzard on Tuesday night in Swan River.

Trevar Mann led the way with 2G 2A, while Keaton Jameson had 2 goals 1 assist of his own while Braden Groot had the other marker for the Stampeders.

Jeremy Dumont led the way offensively for the Blizzard with a 2 point night (1G 1A)

18 year old Brett Evans made 36 saves to earn his 4th win of the season for Swan while Emiliy Boily turned aside 26 shots in the loss.

The Stampeders return to the ice on Friday night when they visit the Winkler Flyers.


Elsewhere in the MJHL,

The Wayway Wolverines dropped their 3rd straight, losing 5-3 on home ice to the visiting Winnipeg Blues at the Wayway Arena Complex.

Landyn Cochrane and Trevor Kavanaugh scored for Wayway while Joel MacGillivray & former Wolverine Rhett Lough led the way for the Blues with 3 points each.

Winnipeg netminder Adam Derochie made 22 saves on 24 shots for the W while McKenzie Chalmers turned aside 31 in the losing cause.

Wolverines go right back at it on Thursday as they visit the Virden Oil Capitals at 7:30 from Tundra Oil & Gas Place

In the SJHL,

The Melville Millionaires were 2:56 away from a couple of points but end up with none as the Melfort Mustangs score two late goals to defeat the Mils 2-1 on Tuesday night.

Jake Sutton scored the opening goal on the PP in the 1st then Andrew Thompson and Wyatt Hinson with less than a second to go completed the comeback for the visitors.

Former Mil Evan Plotnik made 27 saves for the win for Melfort while Brandon Wells was once again superb making 33 saves in the losing cause.

Mils back on the ice on Friday night for a neutral site game as they take on the Notre Dame Hounds in Grenfell on Friday night at 7PM
