The Swan Valley Stampeders used a strong effort on the road as they won their 2nd straight, 4-0 over the Virden Oil Capitals on Tuesday night at Tundra Oil & Gas Place.
After a scoreless 1st period, the Stampeders would get one in the middle frame as Connor Navrot would get his 8th of the season with 5:50 to go in the 2nd period to give Swan a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes.
The Stamps would get a couple more goals 3:23 into the 3rd period as Connor Navrot would bank home his 2nd of the night (9th of the year) and Tanner Koroscil (7th) to give the visitors a 3-0 lead. Elkhorn product Josh Martin would get one late for good measure top shelf on Riley McVeigh to give the Stamps their 9th victory of the season and a 4 goal victory.
20 year old Connor Slipp (pictured above) was once again impressive for the Stamps making 26 saves for the his 1st shutout of the season while 18 year old Riley McVeigh turned aside 36 shots in the loss.
The Stamps finish off their 7 game stretch away from the Centennial Arena this weekend with a couple of games. Swan will be in Steinbach on Friday and they visit the Selkirk Steelers on Saturday night.
Elsewhere in the MJHL,
The Wayway Wolverines lost their 8th straight game on Tuesday night, 3-2 on home ice to the OCN Blizzard.
Trevor Kavanaugh scored both goals for the Wolverines while George King scored twice for the Blizzard including the GWG early in the 3rd.
The Wolverines look to snap out of their skid on Saturday night when they host the Winkler Flyers at 7:30 from the Wayway Arena Complex.
Meanwhile in the SJHL,
The Yorkton Terriers had their record drop to 11-13-3 on the season after a 4-1 loss to the Humboldt Broncos at the Farrell Agencies Arena.
Tyler Baier had the lone goal for the Terriers while Chris Van Os Shaw scored his league leading 21st, 22nd and 23rd goals of the season to complete the Hat-Trick for the Broncos.
Nathan Hargrave got the start for the Terrier and made 38 saves in the losing cause.
The Terriers are back at it on Friday night at home, when they welcome the La Ronge Ice Wolves at 7:30 from the FAA.
