Hargrave's 26 save shutout leads Terriers to a 3-0 New Year's Day win over Melville


The Yorkton Terriers completed the sweep of the Highway 10 home & home series on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 win over the Melville Millionaires in the Rail City.

The Terriers would get things going offensively just 6:40 into the 1st as Kaleb Bell would smack home his 4th goal of the season to give the visitors a 1-0 lead after 1 period with shots being 12-9 Yorkton.

In the 2nd, the Terriers would add to their lead very early into the middle frame as Quin Hobbs would score his 2nd goal in as many night as he would go back-hand shelf on Brandon Wells for his 3rd of the year to make it 2-0. Then almost half way through the 2nd period on the power play, Evan Werle would rifle home his 2nd to give Yorkton a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes with the Terriers leading the shot column 33-14.

The 3rd period would be a scoreless one but the period would also see 3 fights in totals between the two rivals.

Nathan Hargrave (pictured above) made 26 saves for the Terriers for his 3rd shutout of the season while Brandon Wells made 37 saves in the losing cause for the Mils.

The Terriers are back in action on Tuesday night when they visit the Nipawin Hawks. Pregame 7:20 pxp at 7:30 from the Cage with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey. The Terriers will also be in Melfort on Wednesday, a game you can also hear on GX94.

The Mils, meanwhile will be back on the ice on Wednesday night when they host the Notre Dame Hounds on Wednesday night at 7:30 from the Horizon Credit Union Center.
