Wolverines score 6 unanswered to storm back to beat Dauphin 6-2
The Wayway Wolverines scored 6 unanswered goals to help them capture their 7th win of the season, a 6-2 decision on home ice over the Dauphin Kings on Thursday.
The visiting Kings would get off to a good start in the first and get the only 2 goals and they would come 50 seconds apart off the sticks of Ian Briscoe and Riese Gaber to give Dauphin a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
But then it would be all Wolverines from they would storm back with 5 unanswered goals in the 2nd period and it would kick off with a couple in the opening 2:15 as Landyn Cochrane (pictured above) would get his 14th and Mack McPhee sniped home his 4th to even it up at 2-2. Brendan Martin would then add a couple just 1:04 apart to push the Wolverines lead to 4-2. Wayway would add 2 more markers, one late in the middle frame by Derek Wood and one in the 3rd a beauty by Brandon Stanley that would give the Wolverines their 2nd win in 3 games.
Hunter Lorenson was solid in the Wayway net making 29 saves on 31 shots for his 4th win of the season while Duncan McGovern turned aside 25 shots in the loss to drop his record to 1-2.
The Kings and Wolverines are both back in action this weekend against the Neepawa Natives. Kings take on Neepawa on Friday while the Wolverines entertain Neepawa on Saturday night 7:30 from the Wayway Arena Complex.

The Winnipeg Blues fell on home ice, 7-2 to the 1st-place Steinbach Pistons.

In the SMAAAHL,
The Yorkton Rawtec Maulers are now winners of 3 straight games after a 4-1 win over the Notre Dame Argos on Thursday night.
Ryder Pierson, Keenan Sperling, Derrick Budz and Zach McIntyre scored for the Maulers while 15 year old Saskatoon Blades prospect Nolan Maier made 26 saves for the win.
The Maulers are back at this weekend for a couple games agains the Swift Current Legionnaires including on Saturday night at 7:30 from the Farrell Agencies Arena.
