Saturday Night Jr. A Recap

After a 5-4 SO win on Friday night, the Yorkton Terriers dropped the 2nd half of their back to back games to Flin Flon losing 4-1 on Saturday to the Bombers. 

Former Terrier Jordan McCausland had 2 goals for the Bombers against his former team while Greyson Reitmeier and Nick Shumlanski also scored for the visitors. Quin Hobbs had the lone goal for the Terriers. 

Brandon Newton made 36 saves on 37 shots for the Bombers for the W while Terrier net minder Nathan Hargrave made 33 saves in the losing cause. 

The Terriers are back on the road on Tuesday night when they visit Wilcox to battle the Notre Dame Hounds at 8PM. 

Elsewhere in the SJHL, 

The Melville Millionaires couldn't make it back to back victories on the road as they fell 3-1 to the Nipawin Hawks on Saturday night. 

Mitchell Torrens had the lone goal for the Mils while Brandon Arnold (2) and Eric Bolden provided the offence for the Hawks. 

Kristian Stead made just 16 saves for his 18th win of the season while Colby Entz turned aside 30 shots in the loss. 

The Mils head back on the road next weekend for a 3 games in 3 night trip starting Friday night in Kindersley against the Klippers.

In the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, 

The Wayway Wolverines won their 2nd straight game as they beat the visiting Neepawa Natives 5-2 at the Wayway Arena Complex. 

Brendan Martin (2G 1A) and Adam Withers (1G 2A) led the Wolverines' offensively with 3 points each while Riley Martin and Korwin Shewchuk also scored for Wayway. 

Reigan Buchanan and Nolan Richards had the goals for Neepawa. 

20 year old McKenzie Chalmers made 32 saves for the win while Evan Robert turned aside 32 shots in the loss. 

The Wolverines will look for their 3rd W in a row tonight (Sun) when they host the Portage Terriers at 7:30. 


Meanwhile in Portage, 

The Swan Valley Stampeders lost their 2nd straight on the road losing 7-2 to the Portage Terriers. 

James McIssac led the Terriers with 2G 3A night while Ty Barnstable (2), Ty Enns, Jeremy Leipsic and Ryan Sokolski also scored for Portage. 

Shane Roulette and Cody Ellingson scored for the Stampeders who got 22 saves from Connor Slipp in the losing cause. 

The Stamps' next game will be on Wednesday night on GX94 when they host the OCN Blizzard at the Centennial Arena. Pregame show 7:20, pxp at 7:30 with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey
