Mils earn first road win in Nov. 2nd Local SJHL/MJHL Recap


The Melville Millionaires earned their first road win of the season on Friday night as they beat the Humboldt Broncos 2-1 at the Elgar Peterson Arena.

After the 1st and 2nd ended scoreless, Bryson Cecconi would strike first for the Broncos just 5:21 into the 3rd for his 4th of the season to make it 1-0. But just a short time later, Jaden Shewchuk would grab a loose puck in the slot and snipe it home past Dane Dow low blocker to even the game at 1-1. It would stay like that until 4:10 remaining in the 3rd when Daniel Liberty would find Aidan Steinke back-door and he would back hand home his 4th of the year on the PP to give his team the two points.

Colby Entz (pictured above) was solid in the Mils' net making 30 saves on 31 shots for his 2nd win of the season whie Broncos' goalie Dane Dow made 28 stops in the loss.

The Mils will look for their 2nd straight win on Saturday night when they host the Notre Dame Hounds at 7:30 from the Horizon Credit Union Center while the Broncos are also in action on Saturday welcoming the Nipawin Hawks.

Elsewhere,

Cole Keenleyside scored twice as the Yorkton Terriers earned their 9th win of the season on Friday holding on for a 5-3 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

Chantz Petruic, Aidan Bulych and Branden Klatt also scored for the Terriers who got 27 saves from Ryan Ouelette in the victory.

Those two teams will wrap up their weekend series on Saturday at 2PM from the Mel Hegland Uniplex.

In the MJHL,

Alex Lucken and Jack Kennedy scored in the SO while Isaac Labelle stopped 6 of 7 to lead the Waywayseecappo Wolverines to earn their 10th win of the season defeating the Neepawa Natives 4-3 on the road.

Conrad Phillips, Jack Kennedy and Austin Cardinal scored for Wayway in regulation.

The Wolverines return to the ice on Sunday when they host the Winkler Flyers.
