Knox earn 8th victory of the season after convincing road victory in Assiniboia

The Fort Knox improved their record to 8-1 on the Prairie Junior Hockey league season after a 7-2 road win on Sunday over the Assiniboia Southern Rebels.

The Knox would strike first on the road as Triston Sorenson would sneak a wrist shot through Rebels G Triston Cherwoniak just 7:31 into the 1st to make it 1-0 Knox early.  Fort would add to their lead with a powerplay goal by Kody MacKnak with 4:16 to go in the first frame as he would capitalize on a rebound for his 3rd of the young PJHL season to make it 2-0 after 20 minutes.

In the 2nd, the road team would add to their lead just 1:12 in as Matt McGrath would grab a loose puck and put home his 3rd of the season to making it a 3-0 game.

Then moments later, the Knox would grab their first 4 goal lead of the night as Jaiden Gervais would finish off a nice passing play from Matthew Plews on the PP to make it 4-0.

But the Rebels would cut their deficit in half with two quick goals, 11 seconds apart late in the 2nd off the sticks of Cayden Price and Preston Carriere to make the game 4-2 Knox after 40 minutes.

The Knox would take the momentum back and put the game away for good early in the 3rd as first up Matt McGrath would add his 2nd of the night to make it 5-2 before Brennan Watson and Kody MacKnak would add one more each to wrap up the scoring.

Dylan DeDecker turned aside 18 of 20 shots to earn his 3rd victory of the season in between the pipes for the Knox while Triston Cherwoniak started for the Rebels and he allowed 7 goals on 34 shots before getting relieved for Morgan Bogdan who stopped all 10 shots he faced.

The Knox will return to action on Wednesday night when they host the Regina Capitals for a first place showdown. GX94 will broadcast the game with the pregame beginning at 7:25PM with play by play starting at 7:30.
