Oct. 4th Local Junior A Recap
Stampeders' win their 5th straight blanking Neepawa at home
The Swan Valley Stampeders captured their 5th straight win on Friday night after blanking the Neepawa Natives 3-0 in Swan River.
The Stamps would open the scoring with just over 2 minutes left in the 1st as Trevor Schroder would grab a loose puck behind the Neepawa net and slide it in front for rookie Josh Beauchemin who made no mistake over the right pad of Ethan Petersen for his 2nd of the season to give Swan a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Shots after 1 period were in favour of the Stamps at 8-7.
The home side would add to their lead just a little over 3 minutes into the second as Parker Johnson would saucer over a nice pass in front of the crease that would be re-directed in by fellow rookie Callum Fortin, for the Souris, MB's 2nd of the campaign to make it a two goal Stamp lead after 2 periods.
In the 3rd, the Stamps would add some insurance as big man Trevor Schroder would plant himself in front of the net and then jump on a loose rebound after a Lane Kirk point shot to slip it through the five-hole for Petersen to wrap up the scoring with his 2nd of the young season.
Michael Davis made 27 saves to earn his 1st shutout of the season while Ethan Petersen turned aside 37 of 40 shots in the loss.
Swan Valley will return to action on Sunday night when they entertain the Winnipeg Blues from the Centennial Arena, puck drop will be at 6PM.
