Stampeders; Terriers both victorious on Wednesday night

The Swan Valley Stampeders earned their 9th victory of the season on Wednesday night defeating the visiting Dauphin Kings 3-2 in overtime at the Centennial Arena.

The Stamps got the only goal in the 1st period as Leyson Coleman would get the loose puck in the high slot and swipe it five-hole on Kings net minder Zach Grouette for his 4th of the season to give Swan Valley at 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Shots after 1 were 14-6 Stampeders.

It wouldn't take long for the Stamps to add to their lead in the 2nd as just 62 seconds in, Trevor Schroder banged  home a rebound five-hole for his 5th of the season to make it 2-0.

But the Kings would respond just over 5 minutes later as Baron Thompson would get a nice bounce off a Stamps leg in front and it would go right to him back-door for his team-leading 11th of the season to make it a one goal game after 40 minutes.

After the 2nd the shots were 32-15 Swan Valley.

In the 3rd, the Stamps held a 2-1 lead until 3:57 left in regulation when Nakodan walked out from below the goal-line and slipped it through Michael Davis for his 8th to pull the Kings even to force overtime.

Frazer Dodd would end it for the Stamps just 1:19 into the extra period to give the Stamps the extra point.

20 year old Michael Davis turned aside 25 of 27 shots in the Stamps net to earn the win while Kings G Zach Grouette was solid in the loss making 41 saves.

The Stamps' next game will be on Friday night when they begin a 3 game in 3 night stretch hosting the Virden Oil Capitals before visiting Portage on Saturday and Selkirk on Sunday.
