Oct. 19th Local Junior A Recap

TERRIERS DEFEAT ICE WOLVES IN OT IN CHURCHBRIDGE 

Jordan Guiney had the game winner just 34 seconds into the extra period to lead the Yorkton Terriers to a 3-2 victory over the La Ronge Ice Wolves in Churchbridge. 

Ethan Robson and Evan Sare also scored for the Terriers while Jake Gudjonson and Samson Mouland replied for the Ice Wolves. 

The game was neutral site game in Churchbridge where the arena before the game was newly named the "Kaminski Arena" which is named after long time NHLer and Churchbridge's own Kevin Kaminski who is currently the Head Coach and GM with La Ronge. 

The Terriers will look for their 2nd straight win when they host the Melfort Mustangs on Tuesday night. We will broadcast the game on GX94 with the pregame show kicking off at 7:20 and the play by play begins at 7:30PM. 


MILS COME UP EMPTY IN FLIN FLON 

The Flin Flon Bombers completed the sweep of Melville with a 5-1 victory over the Millionaires.

Easton Haygarth led the Bombers with 2 goals and 2 assists while Aidan Steinke scored the lone marker for the Moneymen. 

Kaleb McEachern turned aside 40 of 45 shots in the loss for the Mils. 

Melville returns to action next Saturday night when they welcome the Humboldt Broncos for their first meeting of the season. Puck drop will be at 7:30PM from the Horizon Credit Union Center.

STAMPS POINT STREAK SNAPPED AT 7 AFTER HOME LOSS TO WINKLER 

The Swan Valley Stampeders' 7 game point streak came to an end on Saturday night after a 6-3 win over the Winkler Flyers. 

Carter Cockburn, Luke Beerman and Jackson Betcher scored for the Stamps while Mikael Foucher made 31 saves in the losing cause. 

Griffin Leonard scored twice while former Stampeder Justin Svenson had 1G 2A to lead the visiting Flyers. 

The Stampeders will return to action at 7PM MB time on Wednesday night when they visit the OCN Blizzard. 


WOLVERINES DROP 3RD STRAIGHT AFTER LOSS IN SELKIRK

Rayman Bassi scored twice but it wasn't enough as the Waywayseecappo Wolverines fell for their 3rd straight game, 4-3 to the Selkirk Steelers on Saturday. 

Nick Doyle had the other marker for Wayway while Riley Portner, Carter Barley and Tanner Pochipinski replied for the Steelers in the win. 

The Wolverines will head back on the road on Tuesday night when they visit the Winkler Flyers.
