The Swan Valley Stampeder pulled into a tie with the Winnipeg Blues for the final playoff spot in the MJHL standings as they recorded a point in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Dauphin Kings on Tuesday night.
After a scoreless first 2 periods, the Kings would finally get on the board at the 14:00 mark of the 3rd period as Jaymes Knee would slip behind the Stamps defence and go in alone with Ethan Petersen and beat the Stamps netminder over the right pad for his 7th to make it 1-0. But the Stamps would get the equalizer with 1:29 left as Matt Osadick would use his good speed up the near-side wall and then one hand it through the five-hole of Brennan Kitchen for his 11th to tie it up at 1-1 to force the overtime period.
After a back and forth overtime period for the most part, Riley Shamry would use his strength and reach and would be able to beat Petersen around the far side to give his team the extra two points.
Brennan Kitchen was outstanding in the Kings' net making 43 saves for his 7th victory while Ethan Petersen turned aside 28 shots in the losing cause.
The Stamps next action will be on Friday night when they host the Steinbach Pistons to kick off a 5 game home stand. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, pregame 7:20 pxp at 7:30.
