Stamps; Mils drop decisions on home ice on Friday

The Swan Valley Stampeders dropped their 2nd straight on Friday night, falling 3-0 to the 1st place Steinbach Pistons.

After a scoreless 1st period the Pistons would get on the board very early in the middle frame. Just 29 seconds into the 2nd, Drew Worrad would take a nice pass in front and he would snap home his 17th of the season to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead.  The Stamps would have some great chance to even things up with 5 power plays in the 2nd including a short 5 on 3 and a lengthy 4 minute PP but they weren't able to convert as Pistons' goaltender Matt Radomsky stood tall. The Pistons would add  a late PP goals as a nice give and go would be finished off by MJHL-leading scorer Bradley Schoonbaert for his 26th and that gave the road team a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.

The Stampeders would have a few more good chance in the 3rd but they couldn't capitalize. Schoonbaert would add his 2nd of the game late in the 3rd to solidify the Pistons their 2 points.

Steinbach goaltender Matt Radomsky made 29 saves for his 6th shutout of the season while Ethan Petersen made 32 stops in the loss.

The Stamps who still remain 2 points back from the Neepawa Natives for that final MJHL playoff spot will be back at it on Saturday when they host the Portage Terriers. Puck drop is at 7:30.
