Riot captures 2nd straight WWCFL Title
The Regina Riot capped off their perfect season with a 14-10 victory over the Saskatoon Valkyries on Sunday in the championship game of the Western Women's Canadian Football League.
Mallory Starkey had both touchdowns on the ground for the Riot in the win.
The Riot also featured some players with ties to our local area including: Kyla Krenbrink (Wolseley), Halyna Ignatiuk (Ituna), Katherine Cabylis (Melville), Telisa McGonigal (Moosomin), Kristi Jakubowski (Grayson), Ashleigh Henrion (Roblin MB), and Rachelle Smith (Abernathy),
2018 NHL Draft takes place in DallasThe 2018 National Hockey League Draft was held this past weekend in Dallas, Texas.
There were a couple local players selected including The Pas, Manitoba's Connor Dewar who went in the 3rd round, 92nd overall to the Minnesota Wild.
Dewar had 38 goals, 30 assists for 68 points in 68 games this past season with Everett Silvertips (WHL)
Meanwhile in the 6th round, 168th overall Foxwarren MB's Dawson Barteaux was selected by the Dallas Stars.
Barteaux who suited up with the Red Deer Rebels had 32 points in 64 games.
