Feb 1st Local Junior A Recap



The Melville Millionaires got back into the win column on Saturday night as they defeated the Notre Dame Hounds 3-2 in the shootout.

Zach McInytre scored his 14th goal of the season then got the shootout winner while Rin Beny scored the tying goal late in the 3rd period.

Olivier Lepine and Zack Whittaker replied for the Hounds.

Berk Berkeliev made 35 saves in the win.

The Mils will return to action on Wednesday night when they host the Flin Flon Bombers. GX94 will broadcast the game with the "Sask Milk" pregame show starting at 7:20 and the play by play kicking off at 7:30PM.

The Swan Valley Stampeders' kicked off their 3 game weekend road trip with a 3-2 overtime loss to the Winker Flyers on Saturday.

The Stamps got out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Callum Fortin and Trevor Schroder before Garrett Szeremley and Sullivan Shortreed tied things up.

Shortreed added his 2nd of the night just 21 seconds into the extra period to get the winner.

Dorrin Luding turned aside 31 of 33 shots to earn the win for Winkler while Stamps' G Parker Rey made 41 saves in his return to the lineup.

The Stampeders continue their trip on Sunday night against the Winnipeg Blues before wrapping it up on Monday in Steinbach.

Elsewhere,

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines dropped a 6-2 decision to the Winnipeg Blues on the road.

Jacob Charko and Rayman Bassi scored for Wayway while Colin Ahern made 32 saves in the loss

The Wolverines' next game will be on Tuesday night when they visit the Virden Oil Capitals.
