Regina's Dunstone captures 2020 Sasktel Tankard in Melville
Regina's Matt Dunstone will wear the green and white of Team Saskatchewan at this year's Tim Hortons Brier.
Dunstone and his rink of Braeden Moskowy, Catlin Schneider and Dustin Kidby doubled up Saskatoon's Kirk Muyres 4-2 in the Championship final on Sunday of the 2020 Sasktel Tankard Provincial Men's Curling Championships in Melville.
The defending champions from Saskatoon got on the board first as Kirk Muyres made a nice draw to the full four-foot to make it 1-0 after 1
After a couple of blank ends Matt Dunstone who beat Langenburg’s Kody Hartung 5-4 in the Semi-Finals earlier in the day, got the first deuce to give himself a 2-1 advantage through 4 ends.
Muyres was able to even it up as facing two, he made a beauty draw to grab a piece of the button making a 2-2 game after 6 ends.
The seventh and eighth ends were also blanked, before Dunstone made nice quiet hit on a Muyres stone in the four-foot for his two to make it 4-2 heading to the 10th.
In the 10th, with Muyres needed two to tie, Dunstone and his foursome ran them out of rocks to earn the win.
Dunstone will now represent Saskatchewan at this year's National Men's Curling Championships that runs February 29th to March 8th, 2020 in Kingston, Ontario.
