The Swan Valley Stampeders completed a successful two win weekend on Sunday night after a 5-3 victory over the Selkirk Steelers at the Centennial Arena in Swan River.
The Stampeders' got the only goal in the 1st as Tanner Glasrud's long, hard point-shot would get deflected in front by Callum Fortin & by goaltender Austin DeBoer for his 11th of the season to give Swan Valley a 1-0 lead after 1 period.
Shots after 20 minutes were 18-12 Stamps.
Josh Maucieri would add to his teams lead just 34 seconds into the 2nd period as he took a nifty feed from Nathan Carl and went forehand-backend past Austin Deboer for the Crosby, MN products 13th marker to make it 2-0.
Eric Krywy cut the Steelers' deficit in half just 1:17 later as he hammered in a cross-ice feed from Tanner Pochipinski past Mikael Foucher to make it 2-1.
But the Stampeders' came back with two more before the 2nd period buzzer would go off the sticks Nathan Carl (22) and Trevor Schroder (19) less than 4 minutes apart to give the home-side a three goal lead after 40 minutes.
Stamps led the shot column 32-27 after 2 periods.
Keenan Allen started a little bit of a comeback for the Steelers, as off a face-off in the Stamps' zone he would get a clear lane towards the net and then go back-hand shelf for his 3rd of the season to make it 4-2.
Then just under a minute late, the cut their deficit to one as Hudson Chamberlin on a weird one would bang it back Mikael Foucher to make it a 4-3 game but that's as close as they would get as Daunte Fortner iced it into the empty net in the final minute.
Mikael Foucher turned aside 39 shots to earn his 21st victory of the season in the Stamps' net while Steelers' G Austin DeBoer made 37 saves in the loss.
The Stampeders will return to action on Wednesday night when they visit the OCN Blizzard at 7PM

On Saturday,
The Stampeders' kicked off their weekend with a 7-3 victory over the Virden Oil Capitals on Saturday night.
Tommy Cardinal led Swan with 2 goals while Leyson Coleman chipped in with 1G 2A.
Carter Cockburn, Josh Beauchemin, Josh Maucieri and Luke Beerman also scored while Mikael Foucher got the win in goal making 47 saves.
Hunter Andrew, Jayden Wojciechowski and Jack Einarson replied for the Oil Caps.
