C Norrish; Thomson among SJHL Award Winners Announced Today

 

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League announced their award winners today (Mon) for the 2013/14 season and two Yorkton Terriers were recognized.

Local product and Terrier netminder Kale Thomson (bottom picture) was named SJHL's Goaltender of the Year, while Terriers defenseman and Strongfield native Chase Norrish (top picture) was named SJHL's Top defenseman.

20 year-old Thomson had a 31-11-3 record during the regular season and also the the league's single season shutout record in the process.

While fellow 20 year old Chase Norrish led all SJHL defenceman in scoring during the regular season with 45 points, 9 more than his closest competition. Chase also currently leads his team in playoff scoring with 7 points through 5 games.

Other award winners named were Estevan's Austin Daae named the SJHL Player of the Year, Battlefords Goaltender Michael Gudmandson as the SJHL MVP, and Humboldt netminder Ryland Pashovitz as the league's Top Rookie.

Thomson, Norrish and the rest of the Terrers will host Game 1 of their Semi-Final series on Friday against the Humboldt Broncos from the Farrell Agencies Arena.
