Mils win Game 1; Terriers lose In triple OT

The Melville Millionaires drew first blood in their SJHL semi final series as they beat the Battlefords North Stars 4-1 to take a 1-0 series lead in their best of 7 series.

The Stars got off to a quick start as they would get a quick power play and convert as Blake Young would deflect home a long wrist shot for his 3rd of playoffs to make it a 1-0 Bronco lead. Then Just 9 mins into the opening frame, Colin Mospanchuk would get the equalizer his 2nd of the postseason to tie it up at 1 And that's how we would sit after 1 period.

The Mils would come out with quick strike offence in the 2nd as just over a 1 minute in, Reed Murray on a good mid line drive would direct home his 1st of the playoffs to give the Mils a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Lane Harbor would come out in the 3rd and give the Mils a 3-1 lead just 23 seconds in for his 3rd of the playoffs. The Mils would get into some penalty trouble but their penalty was outstanding and kept the Stars off the board. Alec Brandrup would ice it with just 12 seconds left to make it a 4-1 Game 1 win.

Isaiah Plett (pictured above)  was terrific in Mils goal stopped 38 of 39 shots.

The two teams will go right back at it on Saturday night in Game 2, Pregame 7:20 on Gx94.

  1. Really Benny?! Why you leave uneducated asshole's comments on here is beyond me. I think it's a shame that there will be only be insulting comments towards a team when there's a loss and no credit given when teams wins. Or at least make it so people need to post their name and not as anonymous so that when their English doesn't make sense we can at least know who didn't pass grade two! I'm done with this blog!
