Mils up 2-0, after 2-1 victory in Game 2 over Battlefords

The Melville Millionaires have once again took the first two games of their series on the road  in these SJHL playoffs as they defeated the Battlefords North Stars 2-1 to take a 2-0 lead in their Best of 7 Semi-Final series.

The Stars came out with a vengeance in period number and quickly took much of the control early on at one point outshooting the Mils 11-3 , but as the period would go on the Mils would start to get their legs back once again to shorten the gap in the shot department to a 12-10 shot advantage for the North Stars in a scoreless 1st period.

The Mils in the middle frame for the 3rd time in this series would get a goal in the opening 3 minutes and this time it would be Winnipeg native Sam Williams jumping on a loose puck and putting it past Michael Gudmanson for his 1st goal of the playoffs to give the Mils an early 1 goal lead that would go right into the 2nd intermission.

In the 3rd the North Stsrs would come back with some quick strike offence of their own as they would get the equalizer just 1:22 into the 3rd period as Jake McMillen would redirect one by Isaiah Plett for his 1st goal of the postseason to pull Stars even at 1-1. It would stay like that until the Mils would go in on a 2 on 1, and Allan Kilback would slip it over to Reed Murray who was absolutely robbed by Gudmanson but the puck was just sitting there in the crease and a pinching Alec Brandrup (pictured above) would gobble it up and put it in the back of the net for his 2nd postseason goal to give the Mils a thrilling 2-1 Game 2 victory.

Isaiah Plett continued his stellar postseason play recording his 6th straight win stopping 32 shots and now has a 1.32GAA in 6 games this post season while SJHL MVP stopped 21 shots in a losing cause.

With the Mils up 2-0, the series shifts back to Melville for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday st the HCUC. at 7:30
