Terriers prevail in Game 2 behind Gervais' Double OT heroics

For the 2nd straight game this Series went to the extra period, and for the 2nd straight game the Visitors prevailed as the Yorkton Terriers took Game 2 on Sunday night defeating the Humboldt Broncos 3-2 in double OT to even the Best of 7 Semi Final series at 1-1.

It was a pretty tightly checked start to Game 2, with not much offense to start off with, with the shots at one point being 3-3 about 11 minutes into the 1st period. But the play would start to open up as we got to the latter stages of the 1st period, and the Broncos would be the ones that would draw first blood for the 2nd straight night, as quickly off the draw Cody Pongracz woulda  get the puck just outside the slot and would snap it over the pad for his 4th of the playoffs to give the hometown Broncos a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

In the 2nd period, the play would open up a little bit more as both teams would have great opportunities and this time it would be the Terriers breaking through and evening things as Brett Boehm would get his 3rd goal of the playoffs to even it up at 1-1 after 2 periods.

Just 4 minutes into the 3rd period the Broncos would regain their 1 goal lead as Pongracz would bang home his 2nd of the night to make it a 2-1 Humboldt lead. That lead didn't last long as Boehm would get his 2nd of the game and 4th of the postseason to even it up at 2-2 after regulation.

The game would remain even at 2's after almost 2 complete overtime periods when in the late stage of the double overtime the Terriers would get a power play and shortly into their 3rd power play chance Kailum Gervais (pictured above) would sneak one through Ryland Pashovitz to give the Terriers a thrilling 3-2 Game 2 victory.

Kale Thomson stopped 41 shots for the victory while Ryland Pashovitz made 42 saves in a losing cause.

Series now tied up at 1-1, Game 3 takes place on Tuesday at the FAA. Pregame show 7:20, PxP at 7;30 on GX94.
