Goethals' plays hero as Stamps capture Game 2 in OT over Steinbach in MJHL Semi-Finals

The Swan Valley Stampeders have evened up their MJHL Semi-final series at a game apiece after a 3-2 overtime victory over the Steinbach Pistons in Game 2 on Saturday night.

The Stamps would get off to a quick start as Brad Goethals with slap-shot from the point would beat Matt Radomsky for his 4th of the playoffs to make it 1-0 Swan just 6:53 into the 1st. But the Pistons would respond with a PP goal of their own as Tanner Mole deflected home a Troy Williams' point shot by Merek Pipes to even it up at 1-1 after 1 period.

In the 2nd, the Pistons would get the only goal of the middle frame when the Stamps had a little break down in their defensive and Riley Vautour would plant himself back-door and take a nice feed from Brendan Martin and make no mistake for his 2nd in as many nights to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage after 40 minutes.

Matt Osadick would even it up at 2-2 just 2:22 into the 3rd period as he took a nice feed back-door from Campbell Balk for his 3rd of the playoffs and it would stay like that until the over time period.

In overtime, Swan Valley would get a odd-man rush and Brad Goethals would send it on net looking for a streaking Matt Osadick but instead it would be re-directed in by Pistons D Troy Williams and past his own net minder for the game winner.

Merek Pipes won his 5th game of the postseason making 24 saves to get the win while Pistons' netminder made 35 stops in the overtime loss.

The series will shift back to Steinbach for Game's 3 and 4 of the Best of 7 Semi-Final on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, pregame both nights will begin at 7:20 with PXP kicking off at 7:30PM MB time
