SJHL takes 2 out of 3 on Day 1 of SJHL/MJHL Showcase in Regina

Team Garbutt (MJHL) 4 Team Schwartz (SJHL) 3  in Shootout

Reilly Funk scored the shootout winner to lead the MJHL's Team Garbutt to a 4-3 shootout victory over Team Schwartz (SJHL) to open up the SJHL/MJHL Showcase in Regina.

Drake Burgin scored twice to lead Team Garbutt while Portage's Peyton Gorski had the other marker.

Melville Millionaire forward Luke Spadafora led Team Schwartz with a 1G 1A while Jack Lenchyshyn and Jake Tremblay also scored.

The two teams will have a rematch on Tuesday morning at 10AM.

Team Mitchell (SJHL) 8  Team Zajac (MJHL) 5 

Melfort Mustang duo of Justin Ball and Carson Albrecht each had 2G 2A each to lead Team Mitchell to a 8-5 victory over Team Zajac in Game 2 of the Showcase.

Blake Kleiner, Antonio DiPaolo, Charles Martin and Ben Hiltz also scored while Shawn Parkinson made 36 saves to get the win.

Yorkton Terriers' Captain Brendan Mark had 2 assists while teammate Cody Bruchkowski netted one assist in the win.

Tristan Culleton, Boedy Vaeth, Brendan Arnold and Kasyn Kruse & Josh Tripp of the Swan Valley Stampeders scored for the MJHL squad.

Stamps' G Merek Pipes turned aside 30 of 38 shots to get the loss.

Team Mitchell will be back on the ice at 1PM on Tuesday vs. Team Belfour while Team Zajac will face Team Kunitz at 4PM

Team Kunitz (SJHL) 3  Team Belfour (SJHL) 1

In the final game of Day 1, the SJHL made it a 2-1 record on Day number 1 after Team Kunitz edged Team Belfour 3-1.

Michael Clarke had the GWG on the PP late in the 2nd to pace the SJHL team to victory while Calvon Boots and Caleb Moretz chipped in with singles.

Virden Oil Capital F Ben Dalke had the lone goal for the MJHLers.
