Stampeders & Wolverines both fall in MJHL action on Sunday

In Swan River,

20 year old Nate Halvorsen scored two goals just 50 seconds apart in the 3rd period as the Selkirk Steelers came back to defeat the Swan Valley Stampeders 2-1 on Sunday night.

Quintin Sudom's 14th goal of the season was lone offence for the Stampeders who got a 31 save performance from Merek Pipes in the loss.

Steelers goalie Austin Deboer made 23 saves to earn the victory.

The next game for the Stampeders will be tomorrow night (Tues) when they visit the Virden Oil Capitals. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, pregame show at 7:20, pxp starts at 7:30.

Meanwhile in Waywayseecappo,

The Portage Terriers used a 3 goal third period to help them to a 6-0 win over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines to complete the weekend sweep of the home and home series.

Sheldin Howard had 2 goals while Braden Billaney chipped in with 1G 2A to lead the way for the Terriers.

Ocean Wiesblatt, Logan Calder, and Jay Buchholz added singles while former Wolverine Ethan Peterson made 31 stops for the shutout.

The Wolverines return to the ice on Wednesday night when they host the Winnipeg Blues.

The Blues were in action Sunday as well as they hammered the Virden Oil Capitals 6-2.
