The Melville Millionaires dropped their 4th straight on Friday night, 2-1 to the Weyburn Red Wings at Crescent Point Place.
After a scoreless 1st period, the Mils struck first just 2:08 into the 2nd on the power play as Tristan Shewchuk's snap shot beat Ben Laidlaw over the right pad for his 8th of the year to make 1-0 Melville. The Red Wings would respond just over 7 minutes later with a PP goal of their own as former Millionaire Eric Soar would one-time home through the five-hole of Colby Entz to make it a 1-1 game after 40 minutes.
In the 3rd, Weyburn would get the game winner just 1:26 into the 3rd period when Moosomin's Jevon Schwean would walk out to the high-slot and beat Entz over the right pad to give the Red Wings their 4th straight victory.
Ben Laidlaw made 27 saves in the Red Wings goal to earn his 3rd straight victory while Colby Entz turned aside 27 stops in the losing cause.
With the win, the Red Wings now just sit 1 point back of Melville for the final playoff spot with 2 games in hand.
The Mils return to action tonight (Sat) when they welcome former Melville Millionaire Dayton Heino and the Battlefords North Stars to the Horizon Credit Union Center at 7:30.
Elsewhere in the SJHL,
Brett Gammer had 2 goals, while McGregor Sinclar & Cody Spagrud had 1G 2A to the Battlefords North Stars to a 5-2 win over the Yorkton Terriers at the FAA.
Quintin Loon-Stewardson had the other marker for Battlefords while Chad Duran turned aside 31 shots for the win.
Jared Legien and Cole Keenleyside replied for the Terriers. Ryan Ouellette got the start for the Terriers and allowed 4 goals on 32 shots while Andrew Henderson made 8 saves on 9 shots in his Terrier debut.
The Terriers will head on the road to Weyburn on Saturday for the Viterra division showdown with the Red Wings at Crescent Point Place.

In the MJHL,
Drake Burgin and Jay McCarthy had 1 goal 1 assist each while Britt League made 49 saves to lead the Winkler Flyers to a 3-1 victory over the Swan Valley Stampeders in Swan River.
Marcel Berube also scored for the Flyers while F Campbell Balk replied for the Stamps.
The two teams will have a rematch on Saturday night at 7:30 from the Centennial Arena.
